Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
I need a ride to Fort McMurray, are there shuttles?
Unfortunately, we are not able to provide organized collective transportation to Fort McMurray, so you are responsible for arranging your own transportation to the region. For ideas and resources on how to get to Fort McMurray or how to connect with other drivers/passengers, email email@example.com.
Where do we meet?
If you are arriving on July 5 there will be a meet and greet (link to program page) on Indian Beach near Anzac (link to map) near the community of Anzac.
If you are arriving on the morning of July 6, the program for the walk begins at 10:00 am at Crane Lake Park (link to map).
Where is the camping?
Camping is available at Indian Beach (link to map) near the community of Anzac. The camping is free and you are welcome to stay overnight on both July 5 and 6. This is NOT a serviced camp site. However, we will be providing a water truck and portable bathrooms. You are required to bring your own camping gear and food for breakfasts, lunches, and snacks.
Where do I park my car?
There is parking available at the campsite at Indian Beach.
There is very limited parking at the entrance to Crane Lake Park. We will be organizing a shuttle service and/or car pooling to get people from Indian Beach to Crane Lake Park.
If you are not camping at Indian Beach and plan to go directly to the muster point at Crane Lake Park we strongly recommend you car pool with others to reduce the number of vehicles. Please note that parking may not be available at Crane Lake Park when you arrive and you may be redirected by volunteers to a nearby parking area and shuttle service.
More details about shuttles and parking will be posted soon.
How do I get to/from Indian Beach and the walk site?
There is very limited parking at the entrance to Crane Lake Park. We will be organizing a shuttle service and/or car pooling to get people from Indian Beach to Crane Lake Park. More details about shuttles will be posted soon.
Are meals provided?
We will provide dinner on July 5 and 6 and energy snacks during the walk. You are responsible for all other meals.
I have dietary restrictions. What are my options?
We will be providing both vegetarian and vegan options for the feast and snacks during the walk. Our vegetarian and vegan options are gluten free. If you have other dietary needs please bring your own food.
Can I bring a sign or banner?
We are respectfully asking people to not bring any signs or banners. This is an opportunity to look around and see what is going on, learn from the elders how things have changed, and listen to ideas on how to stop the expansion. We hope that you will take ideas and energy from the Healing Walk and use it in protests in your home but we ask that the banners and signs not be a part of the event. Thank you
